Happy New Year, here’s A Short Story

In September, I was approached by Groove Pillows, asking me if I would like a sample of their headline product to trial.

I’m all for free samples so I naturally accepted, thinking that at worst, I’d not like it as much as my inexpensive IKEA pillow and pass it on or pop it in that cupboard – you know, the one everyone has that’s like a black hole for stuff you don’t need.

A couple of days later, said pillow arrived, I put my pillowcase on it and gave it a try.
Night one, was no better or worse than any other I had experienced, but by night three, it would have taken a dozen armed guards to separate me from my new pillow. It’s so comfy and supportive and generally great.

I asked the company if I could purchase three more for my clinical rooms – to share the comfort with clients and they offered three more samples. Only a few days later,  an extra, bonus pillow arrived with the others, possibly from an over-enthusiastic mouse-click so I gave a pillow to my wife to try. Since then, on a number of occasions, my wife has offered unsolicited praise of the pillows.

Get to you point Alex

I’ve never previously really been one to enthuse about specific products, despite being asked numerous times “what’s the best pillow to use” or “what mattress should I get.”
I always used to reply “the one that gives you the best night’s sleep.” However, based on my recent experience, I will now point people towards a Groove Pillow. I can thoroughly recommend them.

It also just so happens that they will offer a discount or free delivery (I can’t quite work out which) on a pillow if you put the code P-BOC into the discount code box. As a pleasant aside, they offer me a small referral fee for any pillow ordered, but even without this, I would definitely recommend the standard Groove Pillow.

I’m impressed overall by the pillow and, based on the comfort I’ve enjoyed, can believe the claims made about it (including relieving; Stiff neck, Shoulder pain, Tension Headaches, Arthritis/Spondylitis, Chronic whiplash.)

Of course, I believe a pillow would be a support in the resolution of musculoskeletal pains rather than the root of the problem, so if you’re suffering from any of those ailments above or any other aches and pains, get in touch or book an appointment with one of our team today.

Now to find a mattress company that wants to send me a free sample!

Alex Green (BSc Hons Ost. D.N. D.O. F.S.C.C.O. CRTS) has spent 25 years doing one thing exceptionally well: helping people leave in less pain than when they arrived, and making sure they stay that way. He combines the clinical depth of osteopathy with Dynamic Movement Skills training to treat the whole picture, not just the symptom in front of him, but the patterns and underlying causes that created it in the first place. That philosophy shapes everything about how Manchester & Bolton Osteopathic Clinic operates. Rather than managing pain on a session-by-session basis, Alex works to resolve it, restore movement, and then equip patients with the tools to maintain their own health long term. It is an approach that has earned the clinic recognition as the best osteopathic practice in the UK for three consecutive years from 2017, a Patient Care Excellence Award for both 2024 and 2025, and Best Osteopathic Clinic 2025, alongside a string of other accolades in between. These awards reflect what patients already know from their own experience: this is a clinician running a clinic that genuinely cares about getting it right. Never content to stand still, Alex is continuously expanding his knowledge and professional skills, always looking for the next improvement in both clinical outcomes and patient experience. As a father of five, ranging from 5 to 22 years old, he brings that same driven, caring, and deeply practical mindset to every patient he sees, whatever their age or condition.
