WHAT HAVE WE DONE?

What have we done, and are continually doing to Combat the Virus and keep Staff and Patients safe?

We are continuing to follow our stringent cleaning and hygiene protocols, measures and processes for the health and safety of everyone within our clinic.

All of us are practicing maximum infection control procedures regarding hand washing and any physical contact.

If we are in any way feeling unwell, we will be staying at home.

WE’RE HERE TO HELP, THIS IS AN UPDATED DOCUMENT WITH NEW INFORMATION, SO IT’S IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS ALL AND PASS IT TO OTHERS THAT WANT TO COME AND SEE US.

For the safety of all our staff and clients at our three clinic locations, we are taking every measure possible to keep our community safe.

This is a long read so make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and have a sit down to make sure you don’t miss anything important!

The Coronavirus will have impacts on the health system for the weeks and months to come.

Please read this carefully, even if you are not a current patient of our clinic.

The teams at our clinics are here to assist the wider community through this time. We have been and will continue to remain open for business (with appropriate measures in place).
Many people have benefitted from the continuity of patient care we have been able to offer and we have also seen a number of new clients over the last few weeks because pain and issues with your body don’t take holidays or know that it’s a lockdown situation, they can increase with stress and anxiety. So we wanted to reassure you, not to worry, we have you covered!

THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT PEOPLE ATTEND OUR CLINICS BECAUSE THEY ARE IN PAIN, OR LEARNING TO MOVE PROPERLY, NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE SICK.

Current advice remains that the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus is small when receiving osteopathy, movement / running coaching, massage, exercise physio, podiatry and other types of allied health treatment, provided all patients read the below advice and act upon it. We all have a role to play here.

Allied Health Practitioners will need to play a large role in “taking up the slack” for patients who may be unable to have Elective Surgery for Pain Conditions in the next 6-12 months, so it is paramount that our staff and clinic remain operational during this time.

We are still open and fulfilling all appointments.
We can still take bookings via our online booking system https://booking.boltonosteo.com or calling reception on 01204361463 for Osteopathy and https://book.fixmyrun.co.uk or texting 07921148043‬ for Running or Rehabilitation.

We understand that some may be anxious about attending treatment, so we thought we would answer some questions you may have.

HOW ARE WE GOING FORWARD?

  • Clinicians change or clean PPE where appropriate and clean surfaces including the plinths, seats, door handles, taps etc.
  • Likewise, Running & Rehab equipment is sanitised between clients.
  • Rehab & Running appointments will be coached at a minimum distance of one metre where appropriate.
  • Towels and couch covers will not be used in the osteopathy room.
  • We have wipeable pillow covers which are cleaned by the clinician between sessions.
  • Couch roll will only be used on pillows.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU COME TO THE CLINIC

When coming into the clinic we ask you to adhere to the following rules. We cannot fulfil your appointment if you do not adhere to these rules and you will still be liable for the cost of the session:

  • You must complete the electronic form sent to you before each appointment.
  • For Osteopathy appointments, we request that you please wear a face mask for the entire time that you are in the building, as per government guidelines. If you do not have a facemask please follow the government guidelines on making your own face cover here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering
  • We will ask you to carefully wash your hands as you arrive or clean them with alcohol-based gel before you enter the clinic.
  • Please arrive on time, not early or late and wait outside the clinic and maintain two meters from anyone else in the vicinity.
  • Please use the toilet before you leave home if possible.
  • Please make sure you can pay via contactless payment. If you don’t have a suitable card we can send bank details for you to make a transfer.
  • You and your clinician will maintain a two metre distance for the parts of your session that are possible to do so.
  • Subsequent appointments will be arranged and payment will be taken in the treatment / coaching room.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Your osteopath may be wearing any of the following PPE at your appointment depending on their own evaluation and risk assessment. This is in compliance with current government guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-infection-prevention-and-control

  • Apron (washable)
  • Washable facemask (session use)
  • Gloves (single use) and we wash our hands & arms before and after each hands-on treatment.

Your Running coach will be maintaining 2 metres distance throughout the appointment so will not need to be using PPE.

I AM UNSURE IF I SHOULD ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT.

We ask you to be upfront and honest about your travel history, and potential exposure, to ensure that all staff and patients (especially our elderly and immunocompromised patients) remain healthy. This does not mean that you will be unable to be treated, it just means that everyone is aware of any precautions that may need to be taken, including treatment positioning (ie treating you face down instead of face up), or techniques used.

  • If you have flu-like symptoms or a fever please do not come to the clinic.
  • If you have been in contact with anyone that has been confirmed to have COVID-19 or you suspect have it, please do not come to the clinic.
  • If you have symptoms of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home and do not leave your house for 7 days from when your symptoms started and call 111 or visit the 111 online site for more information.
  • If you have travelled Overseas in the past 14 days, AND you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, excessive runny nose, shortness of breath) – please do not attend your appointment. Please seek medical advice which may include getting tested for COVID-19. Use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next.
  • If you have just arrived back from travelling overseas ANYWHERE, it is now mandatory that you self-quarantine for 14 days.
  • If you have had known close contact with a person with COVID-19, do not attend your appointment. Please self-isolate for 14 days as per Advice.
  • If you have arrived from overseas in the past 14 days, but are NOT showing symptoms, please wait for the remainder of the 14 day recommended self-isolation period before you attend the clinic unless you have been to one of the countries that are exempt from the quarantine rules.

If in doubt about anything, please call.

If you need to cancel as a result of this, we will waive any cancellation fee and organise another appointment for you when you are no longer at risk of passing on infection.

If you are not a returned traveller, nor had contact with COVID-19:

· Current advice is that person-to-person transmission in the community is a risk, so stay at home unless necessary and keep updated with current Health and Government advice. We will do the same and update you accordingly, as best we can.

· If you are feeling unwell in any way, please contact us for advice about whether you should attend your appointment. If you have a fever, cough, excessive runny nose or shortness of breath, losing sense of smell and taste, then you will be advised to not attend your appointment.

YOUR AGREEMENT WITH US

IN CONCLUSION

We will continue to keep you informed of any changes or updates.

We are not virologists nor medical doctors, so we are heeding the advice of the experts on what needs to be done to be most helpful at this time. All of the above in this message is from the advice of the experts. You should listen and act upon their advice too.

Please ask either of us any questions you may have about the Coronavirus, including ways to keep you and your family healthy in the upcoming months. We are here to help, as are the people behind the 111 telephone service and https://111.nhs.uk/.
