The first of what could be called our guest blogs but which I hope over time will become regular contributions from trusted friends and ‘family’. This one is from Instagram superstar Farah Orths, long time friend of the practice, nutrition guru and healthy eating fanatic. @glutenfreeaddictxoturmeric signed by Alex

turmeric milk
This has become the favourite go-to comfort drink in my house. The fact that it is so amazing for our bodies is just the icing on the cake! It’s time to leave behind the era of healthy foods tasting bland and boring and start to change your perceptions with this beautiful drink.

Turmeric is a spice dating back thousands of years, having been used as a staple spice in Asia in food staples such as curry. It gives any food, a beautiful vibrant yellow colour. The most amazing thing about it is the health benefits it provides. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, super high in antioxidants, and is great for those with stomach issues e.g IBS. It lowers blood pressure, and can help depression amongst a host (and I really mean it, the list is so long!) of other positive health features.

Basically, if you’re a human, you should be drinking this.

Note: To get the benefits of Turmeric make sure to always cook it with oil (Coconut Oil is great), or use freshly ground Black Pepper – without this our body has a hard time absorbing the turmeric which reduces the benefits you’ll receive.

Turmeric Milk (makes 2)

1/2 tsp Turmeric
2 cups Milk (I think the best blend is half Rude Health Coconut drink and half Rude Health Almond milk)
1/4 tsp Cinnamon
Pinch of Black Pepper
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
2 tsp Extra-Virgin Raw Organic Coconut Oil or MCT Oil
2-3 tsp Honey (local is best)

Heat all of this in a pan on medium heat and whisk all the ingredients together until incorporated. Serve hot. With love.
